Transfield
"Transfield began its patronage of the arts when my father, Franco, founded the Transfield Art Prize for painting and sculpture in the 1960’s. The Transfield Art Prize quickly established itself as the premier contemporary art prize in Australia. In 1973 Transfield, with the support of the Federal and NSW Governments and the City of Sydney, founded the Biennale of Sydney, which immediately achieved international prominence. It is now regarded as a jewel in Australia’s visual arts crown and ranks along with Venice and Sao Paulo as one of the three leading international festivals of contemporary art and multimedia." |
This year, our 50th supporting the arts, we announce a new vehicle to continue our patronage, the Transfield Foundation. The Transfield Foundation will continue to support the Biennale, Australian Chamber Orchestra, Sculpture by the Sea and the Museum of Contemporary Art, as well as supporting innovation in education and community development.
We are excited by the potential of this new chapter and where the Foundation’s journey will take us.
